ES. House

Jouar 267, Lebanon

Existing on site is an old stone house with structural vaults which was preserved on the client's request. The new structure is a one floor wooden volume framed by a light concrete band. A stone box pierces through this addition creating a contemporary echo in relation to the existing structure. The design of the new volume is contemporary and subtle in contrast to the old house. This contrast is connected through a double-height entrance that is fully glazed. It is through transparency that these two contrasting volumes sit harmoniously in nature and open up to a view of Sannine.
