Centro Hotel

Guadalajara, Mexico

The site has great historic value of nearly 500 years of existence. This historic layer imposes a certain dominance, that which the hotel typology must be in rapport with. Looking at the context, one cannot but notice the dominance of the GRID. Inspired by this, the envelope of Centro Hotel tends to project a new modern grid. Two pure volumes linked by a high-tech glazed structure are perceived. This structure becomes the crown of Centro Hotel at the top housing the bar. At the ground floor, the design respects the uninterrupted rhythm of gallery spaces of adjacent buildings. Centro Hotel represents this link between the past and present. It respects the layers of history surrounding it, but also stands out as a new landmark attracting tourists.
